Artist Statement
This body of work is the result of a one-word assignment my mentor gave me this winter. That one word was "Jar" - no other direction than come up with something interesting.
I found some LED lights that my wife had bought at the dollar store, a couple cocktail mixing glasses in the cupboard and I went off to the basement and turned out the lights. One of the jars is crystal and has a diamond shaped pattern. The other is an antique from my wife's grandmother with etched polka dots and a silver rim.
I spent a couple hours simply experimenting. Spinning the glasses. Moving the lights. Shooting from the side, and from above with a zoom and a macro lens.
The result is a wild mixture of reflection and color. This is a project I will definitely come back to and keep playing with!
